The Sun Was NOT Shining The Day These Dresses Were Made!
"The bride's mother insisted on these horrendous iridescent blue monstrosities." says Jennifer, a bridesmaid out of Meridian, Idaho. "The bows, the lace, and the fabric itched like crazy." To make matters worse, Jennifer says they almost had a wardrobe malfunction! "One of the other bridesmaids was rather busty and she was spilling out of the dress all day." But these maids didn't have to just wear the dresses — they also had to perform! "We had to walk down the aisle with [the parasols] open and then when we got to the altar, we had to do a little choreographed move to close them." You know what they say: When it rains, it pours!

I bought the same dress 10 years ago for $1 at the Salvation Army and wore it to a tacky party. It was a hit!

To each their own! This is just a fun way to look at blasts from the past and reminisce. Everybody's who followed the trends has worn something that isn't "timeless." I'm sorry Jenn's good friend had a mother pass away recently and is hurt by some of the comments that are bit mean-spirited.

The bridesmaids had to wear hideous Grecian, aqua gowns for my sister in law's wedding. We may have looked terrible for one day, but she has the horrible wedding pictures for life.
Wendee | May 23, 2007 9:48:49 AM
I can't even BEGIN to tell you in how many ways this is just wrong! I had to wear this hot mess in BIG BIRD YELLOW in my sister's wedding and as a 12 year old, this was neither cute, nor fun! if it was a drag for me, I can only imagine how the adult women in the wedding felt.. it was ugly, bright and itchy, and that stupid parasol! don't take me there!!
lisa | May 17, 2007 3:21:45 PM
I would have been completely humiliated to be a bridesmaid OR the bride!!! Definitely the worst I have seen.
Marti | May 10, 2007 9:00:19 PM

Michelle | May 10, 2007 1:39:04 PM
OMGOSH. My little girl was forced to wear this same dress in my sister in law's wedding. She was 8 at the time, and had to wear the same tacky Scarlett O'Hara style gown as the grown up ladies. No one was very happy, except the bride who thought they were amazingly gorgeous, and matched the style of HER gown. Ick. And because this was a family wedding, I had to go along with it and even pay for the frigging dress.
sheila | May 10, 2007 12:47:41 PM
I dont think there's a bridesmaids dress out there that looks normal- trying to shove four different girls into the same style of dress is a disaster waiting to happen- and I always thought all brides looked beautiful and it was hard to find a bad bride's gown- I was wrong- I guess we are all at the mercy of style and fashion. The more stylish it is in the present, the harder we laugh about it in the years to come. Heres to the good sport in all of us- bridesmaids and brides alike!!
Pepp | May 10, 2007 12:46:58 PM
OMG!! That dress is beyond FUGLY!!
Karen | May 10, 2007 10:54:10 AM
I'm speechless!
Jennifer | May 10, 2007 10:21:28 AM
I'm the bridesmaid that sent the photo. If you would all be so kind in your comments to not mention the bride's mother and her taste, I'd appreciate it. I did not realize she had just recently passed and the bride is not very happy with me for mentioning her mom and then having her lambasted here.
Thanks!
Jennifer

OMW!!!! I would have overslept that day rather than be seen in that dress.
Jeanne | May 10, 2007 1:06:21 AM
This has got to be the absolute ugliest thing I have ever seen. I am curious to see what the bride wore. The look on my face right now cannot be described ... gawd.
Joey | May 9, 2007 11:56:23 PM
Thanks so much for this photo. It has given me a lovely chuckle and will make the time at work this afternoon go by just that much quicker. The dresses are hideous - no doubt, but I just can't stop laughing about the dance. That is freakin hilarious!!
tara | May 9, 2007 9:04:32 PM

Brandae | May 8, 2007 9:19:11 PM
WOWZA! The color, the style, the parasols...How much AWESOMELY BADness can one bridesmaid handle? You gals were troopers, that's for sure!
Angel | May 8, 2007 8:34:05 PM
Straight up FUGLY dresses.......... HORRIBLE!!!!
Jenn, what possessed her to make you guys wear these, lol
Jennifer | May 8, 2007 8:28:30 PM
Lisa: It was spin, spin, spin down the aisle, followed by a brief pause at the altar to collapse it and lay it ever so gently across our left arms. Then we turned and walked to our places to wait for the next gal. Now i"m not making fun of the wedding per se, the bride is a fantastic friend and I love her dearly, but when you're dressed as little bo peep, you can't take yourself too seriously.
Marta | May 8, 2007 7:54:33 PM
Gentlemen, we have a winner!
Carolyn | May 8, 2007 7:45:38 PM
What a mean thing to do to anyone! They should have burnt the pattern AND the material after they saw the first dress!
Gail | May 8, 2007 4:52:23 PM
Jenn, where are the little sheep? What a good friend you were to wear those, you should win!
Lisa | May 8, 2007 4:43:53 PM
Now that's the winner...hands down. Let me just say I would do just about anything to see your little parasol routine!
LaLa | May 8, 2007 11:41:48 AM
Oh good lord!!!!!!!!!..................(enough said)
jane | May 8, 2007 10:28:51 AM
Ok.. at some point you really have to say.. "No, i'm sorry. i'm not wearing that." This looks like an outfit that would be on one of those stuffed ducks for the baby nursery.
Kim | May 8, 2007 9:44:39 AM
I'm sorry. No matter how much I loved my best friend, I would have never worn this dress. I think this may be the all time ugliest wedding dress. And the parasols, don't even get me started.
Angela | May 8, 2007 9:23:14 AM
This is going to make it a closer race for picking the worst dress!!
Mayy | May 8, 2007 7:41:38 AM
I feel so bad. I made my gals wear (In 1973) almost the same design of the dress. I also had them hold parasols. I hope my dress doesn't show up on here...My dress was a lavender
