Fast Wedding + Bad Dresses = Happy Marriage?

May 09, 2007

Bridesmaid

"I DID NOT pick these dresses," insists bride Michelle, whose sisters wore these gowns in her Yorktown, Virginia, wedding in 1980. "My mother made them." But before you start wondering why the mother of the bride used lace kitchen curtains in her design, keep in mind she had a mere two weeks to plan her daughter's nuptials! "The groom and I had only known each other for 30 days before saying, "I do." The marriage has lasted. And my sisters -- bless their hearts -- still love me!" And, since it was such a quick wedding, Michelle says that the damage to her sisters' egos wasn't too bad: "The wedding was attended by only 16 people, so the humiliation was limited."

This picture was taken 27 years ago. I'm sure the bridesmaids only look back and laugh at the dressed. Embarassed at this on line...now...I don't think so. Besides, there are no faces, names or details given so in order for someone to know its them, they will have to point it out.

You say that "The wedding was attended by only 16 people, so the humiliation was limited.", though you have just paraded this long-lasting picture to hundreds of thousands of people who read People.com every day! I'm pretty sure that their slight humiliation has just compounded to complete and utter embarrassment. They may love you even after all this, but I know that I would have a few words to say after my picture was paraded on the internet for all to see.

I would have foregone having a formal ceremony! If it looked bad then, it's only going to get to looking worse as time goes by.
