This Cloud Doesn't Have a Silver Lining

April 30, 2007

Bridesmaid

At first glance, this dress doesn't seem all that bad. (We've seen worse!) But Deborah explained just why this gown made her frown. "All the bridesmaids were hippy, heavy, not the right body type for this dress," says the Howard Beach, N.Y., native. To add insult to injury, the baby blue and white coloring wasn't exactly flattering to thicker body types. "I looked and felt like a big, pale puffy cloud." At least it was a good hair day... Right? "It was hot and humid," says Deborah. "My hair frizzed and the bride wanted the girls hair down."

On a scale of 1 to 10 (ten being the worst), we give this dress a 2. How about you?

I had my bridesmaids wear this for my wedding, same color and all and the dress looked really nice.I agree any type of girl can't wear this dress and it doesn't flatter if you have to many curves..These were a hit with everyone. One of my girls actually cut hers to t-length and wore it again.

I had to wear this same dress (I think, Davids Bridal?) but in green for a wedding in October. And you're so right, if you have any type of curves the dress is very unflattering!!

I had to wear this dress for a wedding in October, but in brown. Yes, BROWN. The dress itself was not bad, but it was BROWN. Not flattering to all body types either.

This is one of the most beautiful dresses. I don't understand why y'all think it is so ugly. It has the most pretty designs. I have seen way more dresses that are ugly! Believe me!!!

I had to wear this one at a wedding a few years back... but in dark blue. Everyone loved it and thought us maids looked stunning! I got quite a few complements...

The only thing was that the beaded work on the side kept scratching my arm. I came home with quite a few scrapes! Other than that... no complaints!

This is the second dress Ive seen on here that I have worn in a wedding...and honestly, she is over reacting. I wore the dress in another color, and all the girls looked good and the dress was very comfortable. Maybe she just doesnt have a good self image....
We received tons of compliments on the dress.

I think that this dress is really pretty it does not look bad on her either. I thing that some of these bridesmaids should just be happy that they were asked to be apart of a very special day for some one they care about. Speaking from experience it is very hurtfull when the bride spends a lot of time picking out a dress that will look good on the people she asked to be in her wedding. In my wedding I had some one 81/2 mo. pregent and somebody supper tall. So when my brides maid told me that she would not go out after the wedding untill she changed because of how ugly the dress was well needles to say I have never gotten over that and my dresses looked beautiful on everyone.

As a guy who was directed here by a woman, I find this entire thing very mean and nasty.

There's ABSOLUTELY nothing wrong with this dress. I've seen it before because my wife almost picked it for our wedding but didn't because it didn't come in a color that she liked and was a bit too heavy for a late spring wedding. I've seen this dress on small women and large women and it was not only beautiful, but stunning.

Still, I guess it's easier for the guilty bridesmaid who posted the picture here to complain that the problem was the dress instead of her being too fat. Or even easier to say that the bride should make all of the bridesmaids wear what the one with the worst figure in the bunch can "get away" with.

Mind you, she'll still look terrible, but instead of one bad looking bridesmaid who you love enough to still have in the wedding despite the fact that she looks terrible, you'll have a whole party of them.

This entire concept from People.com should be dumped and the dim-wits who approved it should be fired. It's *EXTREMELY* mean-spirited and the kind of tripe that should remain relegated to the dark corners of the Internet where it has already been done for years and where brides are less likely to find their friends and loved ones slamming them in public.

This dress is real nice, I mean I think it was ugly because it doesnt look so good on her!

L | May 4, 2007 11:37:51 AM

I dont think this dress is really that bad, I have definately seen worse!

Sammi | May 2, 2007 5:12:00 PM

I've had to wear this same dress in two seperate weddings in different colors. It is the most uncomfortable dress and is very tacky with the two tones of color not to mention the ugly bead detail on the side. I feel your pain!

Erika | May 2, 2007 3:37:19 PM

I have this dress in lilac that I wore in my brothers wedding. It wasn't that bad and I am hippy too. It was actually much more flattering than most bridesmaid dresses.

Quennie | May 2, 2007 3:16:32 PM

I give this dress a 5. The dress it okay, but probably not the right one for this specific wedding party.

Alyson | May 2, 2007 12:31:17 PM

I think this is one of the most stylish bridesmaid's dresses I've ever seen. It's classically tailored, and very tasteful. Providing the attendants weren't overly busty,
I think the cut would look really great on a larger woman!

This is a cute dress. I just bought this dress last april in black for a dance in college. I bought it under my own free will. I loved it and wish I had an excuse to wear it again. I am a very hippy person maybe more of a love handle kind of person and this dress looked good on me. I liked it because it made my hips look good in it and I had to have it. I have some bad bridemaid dresses. This is not a bad bridesmaid dress at all.

VAL | May 1, 2007 3:35:05 PM

THE DRESS IS PRETTY, BUT DID SHE FORGET TO GET FITTED FOR IT? IT'S TOO TIGHT AND MAKES HER LOOK LIKE A SAUSAGE!

Nancy | May 1, 2007 11:32:35 AM

I don't know what this lady is thinking - she looks really good in this dress! Sounds like she's a little self-conscience (as we all are) and wanted to cover herself up more.

Marianne | May 1, 2007 10:04:49 AM

I think it is actually a very cute dress, but she does bring up an important point - not every dress, cute or not, looks good on every body type. The bride should be considerate enough to pick out a dress that looks good on everyone, considering the amount of money you are asking your friends to dish out. I like this one a lot tho.

Melissa | May 1, 2007 9:19:54 AM

This was actually my Maid of Honor dress. Mine was Sage green with the lighter celedon green as the under layer. The other bridesmaids all had just the celedon green. It was gorgeous.

Shanna | May 1, 2007 8:50:02 AM

I have to wear this same dress (different color) in October! Its ok I guess...a lot better than the puffy thing the bride originally wanted us to wear!

Aunt Amy | May 1, 2007 12:59:08 AM

No, it's not the worst dress ever, but she does have tan lines making it even worse.

Katelyn | Apr 30, 2007 5:04:34 PM

I like this dress. It seems perfect for a wedding. I would not have classified this dress as one of the ugliest bridemaids dresses.

Angel | Apr 30, 2007 4:25:28 PM

To be honest this dress is pretty to me. I love the embroidery on the front. I can understand where the wearer is coming from about not feeling like this dress correct for her body type...but honestly I don't think it looks that bad. Those type dresses are made the bring the bust line up and squeeze in the middle so that most body types still have a semi hour glass figure. I think it worked to an extent. Take a look at some of the other dresses on here, I think this one is nice.

Amanda | Apr 30, 2007 3:53:55 PM

I think this dress is quite pretty.

tami | Apr 30, 2007 3:23:42 PM

I think this dress is okay. Not one I would wear but okay looking.
