Who's NOT Allergic To Bad Fashion?

Bridesmaid

"I learned that cheap polyester makes me break out in hives," Emily writes in about the shiny, synthetic dress she was forced to wear. "The dress was a neon, shiny, purple polyester-blend of a mess." But the trouble didn't end with the hue. According to the San Francisco maid, "the full-length skirt had a series of large pleats across the rear that made even the skinniest of girls look like a bloated elephant." But Emily's not blaming all her problems on the dress — she suggests that they're a reaction to another irritant: "Maybe it was just the bridezilla!"

The dresses are ugly especially if you expect the bridesmaid to pay upwards of $200 for them. I recently got married and I put a lot more thought in to the dresses that I chose for my girls. I wanted them to be able to look their best. I took in to consideration the cost and color. With all that my bridesmaid did for me they deserved it! At least when you have the experience of a bad bridesmaid's dress you might think twice when you pick them for you girls.

Rachel | May 7, 2007 4:57:35 PM

I almost choked when I saw this. I had my bridesmaids in them 4 years ago, in a darker lilac. They looked great in them and that is not just me talking. I had 3 bridesmaids who were 3 different body types and this dress worked the best for all of them. In fact, the one without a booty said she liked how it gave her one and the one with a booty liked how it flattered hers. And one was a redhead and she looked amazing in it. Seriously there are way worse dresses out there!

To all of those who wanted to compare the dresses to the other ones on the site...you're comparing 70's disco dresses to 80's/90's big sleeved dresses to todays dress which is not fair. This dress is horrific and I would know because I had to wear it. The back had a train for goodness sake!! I thought the trains were supposed to be left for the bride! And it did add about 30 lbs to any size body. And don't get me started on the pleats on the butt!! It was absolutely awful. Color- Barney dipped in vaseline

Angela | May 1, 2007 11:46:38 PM

I actually wore that same dress for my brothers wedding. I looked about 30 pounds heavier in it! I hated that dress and the way it flared out on the top made my hips look huge. I seriously wanted to find the designer of that dress and slap him.

teresa | Apr 30, 2007 1:43:12 AM

There is absolutely nothing wrong with that dress. Look at the poor women in the other posts and count yourselves lucky. Those dresses are flattering, feminine, not gaudy and I think the Bride showed great taste and restraint.

kim | Apr 28, 2007 12:22:43 PM

My heart jumped when I saw this one . . . I thought my sister had sent in a picture of her and I in our other sister's wedding, then I realized it wasn't us. I thought the dresses in that wedding and the one posted are beautiful!

Angel | Apr 27, 2007 3:20:27 AM

I think I must agree with the majority on this one....the dress is flattering to both figures and the color (at least in the picture) is very appropriate for a wedding. I would wear this (and I'm smaller than both girls in the photo.) I think they look great!

Jackie | Apr 26, 2007 9:45:01 AM

Honestly, those dresses look very flattering, very elegant. It sounds more like you just want to get catty against the bride. "Bridezilla"? Sounds to me like you are just holding a beef against the bride for some unknown reason.

Cookie07 | Apr 25, 2007 12:35:46 PM

OMG R u kidding me - these dresses look very pretty - I love it. QUit complaining!!! I still cant beleive you posted this pic for this topic...

Lynnette | Apr 25, 2007 2:33:04 AM

you have got to be kidding me, lady. ugly? what the hell? most bridesmaids dresses look like this and they are very classy and have simple elegance. my bridesmaids dresses are similar in style, except that my color was sort of a mauvy-rose. i was going for an elegant, but simple look, full of taste.

anna | Apr 24, 2007 4:46:31 PM

just georgeous!!!!! I want that for my second wedding.

SARAH | Apr 23, 2007 7:13:29 PM

HONEY I COMPLETELY AGREE WITH YOU!! FOR MY SISTERS WEDDING I HAD TO WEAR THE EXACT SAME DRESS...IN THE EXACT SAME COLOR!!! I HATED IT!!! THE OTHER BRIDESMAIDS AND I TOLD HER THEY WERE UGLY...BUT SHE MADE US WEAR THEM ANYWAY..SHE LIKED THAT THEY WERE SIMPLE AND SHE SAID THEY WERE "FLATTERING" ON ALL BODY TYPES...ARE YOU KIDDING ME...I WAS ONLY 13 YEARS OLD AND ABOUT 100 LBS...AND IT EVEN MADE ME LOOK LIKE I HAD AN ENORMOUS BACKSIDE!! NOT TO MENTION THE TOP COULD HAVE MADE PAMELA ANDERSON LOOK FLAT CHESTED!

Beth | Apr 23, 2007 6:11:57 PM

I wore a very similar gown in a beautiful apple red for a wedding a few years ago. I thought the dress to be a bit "mature" looking for me (I was 15 at the time), but looking back, it was very flattering. The only thing I can agree about is that the fabric does look kind of "clingy." Otherwise...sorry about the hives I guess?

Sarah | Apr 23, 2007 5:30:58 PM

I really like these dresses are very pretty.. very! I love the color.. I had a similer dress for my wedding. Only it was a really pretty maroon. :) I love these dresses!

Mo | Apr 23, 2007 3:51:16 PM

Honestly the dresses dont look bad, but I can understand your aggrivation if you were allergic to the fabric. I cant imagine having to stand around in something for hours that making me all itchy and red. Good for you for hanging in there!!!

Mari | Apr 23, 2007 2:54:54 PM

Sweetie these are beautful compared to the other postings, come on get a grip!!!

Kerry | Apr 23, 2007 2:07:09 PM

I was a bit suprised to see this dress on this site. If the bride stumbles upon this post, don't get upset... these are beautiful dresses!!! Great taste.

brittany | Apr 23, 2007 1:43:54 PM

AND THE PROBLEM WITH THESE DRESSES ARE?????? I HAD SIMILAR DRESSES IN MY WEDDING EXCEPT IN PINK, AND I HAD ALOT OF COMPLIMENTS AND MY BRIDESMAIDS WERE ADORABLE.

Samantha | Apr 23, 2007 1:38:25 PM

I actually wore this dress in someone's wedding. It was very nice and looked very good. This is an unfair complaint.

sassett | Apr 23, 2007 12:16:03 PM

these dresses are beautiful... is this just a revenge tactic to the bride to try and make her look dumb?? well jokes on these bridesmaids.. they look gorgeous!!

Michele | Apr 23, 2007 11:23:26 AM

These are not that bad. Come on!

Lisa | Apr 23, 2007 11:08:44 AM

There isn't a thing wrong with this bridesmaid dress. The color is beautiful, the style is classic. Perhaps the problem was with the bridesmaid?

amanda | Apr 23, 2007 8:39:53 AM

I actually like these dresses! And I love the color. This is what I ideally wanted for my wedding last June, but my sister couldn't wear the color (she's a redhead.) Sorry maybe I'm weird but I really don't think these dresses belong in this category.

kristen | Apr 22, 2007 7:55:34 PM

these dresses are fine yes they are not stylish there plain but calm down looking at other pictures of the dresses i think this is good

Grace | Apr 21, 2007 5:32:53 PM

People, people, people! Get with the program! There's not a single catty thing that can be said about this picture!

Well, the skirts ARE a bit wrinkled...

gigi | Apr 21, 2007 11:33:04 AM

I don't see anything wrong with these dresses! The color is very pretty too!

Malissa | Apr 21, 2007 11:31:38 AM

These dresses look fine to me. You haven't worn a purple fashion disaster until you have worn an ankle length, purple prominade style skirt, matching purple long sleeved western shirt complete with a "V" of white fringe across the front(from each shoulder to belly button) and black cowboy boots! Wish I had taken a picture now!! The mother of the bride thought these were so cute that she kept mine...can you imagine....

jill | Apr 21, 2007 11:30:48 AM

What the hell? There is absolutely nothing wrong with these dresses. Get over it.

Diana | Apr 21, 2007 7:49:24 AM

these are beautiful dresses in my opinion, but for my wedding between my fiance who would let us know if he liked them or not and my brides maids I let them pick out their dresses... which didnt have to be the same style just as close as they could get of the same color ....That way everyone is happy!! Our wedding day is April 28th,2007

katie | Apr 20, 2007 6:26:51 AM

i don't get it. these dresses aren't bad at all.

Julie | Apr 20, 2007 5:11:54 AM

I think these are lovely...

Susan | Apr 20, 2007 3:18:26 AM

Beautiful dresses, beautiful picture. I'm sure no one let the photographer around back to snap the butt-widening pleats, but that would have helped in this contest.
And a rash? That's awful!

Kristin | Apr 19, 2007 7:54:07 PM

they look fine to me.

dznr | Apr 19, 2007 5:02:56 PM

I don't think these dresses look that bad.

Nancy | Apr 19, 2007 4:33:15 PM

Despite my earlier comment about lavender not looking good on anyone, these dresses are very pretty. I really like them. And the flowers are pretty, too.

JD | Apr 19, 2007 3:59:56 PM

I think it's perfectly fine, especially considering I wore one exactly like this about 5 years ago for a good friends' wedding...it was comfy, the lavender was a nice color and the two piece was more flattering on my figure.

Tct | Apr 19, 2007 3:30:39 PM

I don't think these dresses look that bad.

Maggie | Apr 19, 2007 3:11:13 PM

That is not that bad at all. At least in the photograph. I've had to wear considerably worse!

Melissa | Apr 19, 2007 2:43:35 PM

Ummmm, I really don't see anything wrong with these gowns.
