Bridesmaid Embraces Inner MacGuyver, Saves Day

April 18, 2007

Bridesmaid

From the start, these dresses had everything going against them. "These were homemade, lavender, tea-length, tulle, strapless." If that's not enough, Seattle bridesmaid Kerry says they were also five sizes too big! So, armed with some ribbon, Kerry invented a last-minute fix. "I had to invent a corset-style back the night before the wedding." Even her last minute handiness couldn't help these disasters -- but at least they stayed on! Kerry offers this word of advice to future brides: "Please never put your friends through this! Come on, we know you don't want them to looking better then you but this is nuts!"

I ... don't understand. The common refrain in all these postings is, "We know the bride doesn't want her friends looking better than her ..." and I have to say, it never even occurred to me. I had five bridesmaids, ranging from five feet tall to six feet tall, and the only requirement was blue with silver trim, in a particular period. They could choose the colour blue, they could choose the style and detail appropriate to the period. They were all seamstresses (except for my sister, and I made her gown), and I trusted them. They all looked stunning, and I was proud of them. Isn't that how it's supposed to be??

the dress is not the problem.

Extra points for the shoes...they look exactly like my grandmother's house slippers! Why do brides require their "friends" to wear something they wouldn't be caught dead in?

That's not how you spell MacGyver!!

What is that,velvet?

It looks like they are wearing a bedspread that has been draped to look like a dress! Unbelievable. The shoes are ugly too, the bride should have at least gotten them some stylish flip-flops to wear while dancing!

The shoes are what gets me!!! What was this bride thinking??
Oh, and no one looks good in lavender......

What? No mention of the granny house slippers these poor hapless women are being forced to wear??

PJM | Apr 18, 2007 8:29:57 AM

She forgot to metione the awful shoes. What was the bride thinking????
